Fr. Edward Obi, MSP, Ph.D, STD is a Nigerian social ethicist, who advocates for good governance, safe environments, and secure livelihoods. He is a Member of the Catholic Theological Association of Nigeria (CATHAN), and teaches Moral Theology at the Catholic Institute of West Africa (CIWA). As well as his academic work, Fr. Obi is active in Nigeria’s social space as an advocate of social inclusion, peace and environmental justice. In partnership with local communities, and through respectful dialogue, he is working to curb violence in the Niger Delta region. In this capacity he runs a technical agency for the Niger Delta Catholic Bishops’ Forum (NDCBF), dedicated to following and influencing developments towards a transition to renewable energy in place of the present fossil fuels regime in Nigeria. The author has a number of publications on the subject matter of Ecological Ethics.
