Bishop George Desmond Tambala OCD

Born in Zomba, 1968  Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Zomba in Malawi since 2016. Member of the Order of the Discalced Carmelites, first professed in 1991 in Enugu, Nigeria where he did his noviciate. Philosophical studies at the Intercongregational Institute, Balaka, Malawi, 1990. Theological studies at Tangaza College, Nairobi, Bachelor of Arts in Theology, 1996. Diploma of Specialization  in Mysticism and Carmelite Spirituality at Centro Internacional Teresiano Sanjuanista, Ávila, Spain (1999). Licenciate in Theology, Facultad de Teologia del Norte de España, Vitoria, Spain (2000) with a research on African Theology in Engelbert Mveng SJ. He has been a member of the General Council of the Order of the Discalced Carmelites in Rome ( 2009-2015). Appointed Bishop of Zomba Diocese, Malawi on the 15th of October 2015. Consecrated Bishop of Zomba Diocese, Malawi on the 30th of January 2016
